Deputy Interior Minister Maciej Duszczyk, on the evening of June 20 during Dorota Gawryluk's program "Lepsza Polska," assured viewers that official talks with German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser about the situation on the Polish-German border would take place the following day, as well as about the scandal involving a German police car that appeared on Friday in the border town of Osinow Dolny and dropped off refugees on the Polish side. We contacted the spokesperson of the German Interior Ministry.

"The Federal Interior Minister held bilateral talks today with her Polish counterpart, as well as a joint exchange of views with the Austrian Interior Minister. Many topics were discussed, particularly those related to European policy. However, I ask for your understanding that we do not comment on the details of confidential conversations,"

the spokesperson for the German Federal Interior Ministry told us.

Can you confirm the content of this statement? Did the minister make this statement to Minister Siemoniak on June 21?

Aleksandra Fedorska asked once more, confronting the spokesperson with Siemoniak's specific words.

"Once again, I ask for your understanding — we do not comment on the details of confidential conversations,"

the spokesperson replied.

While the German side chose not to disclose the confidential content of the bilateral conversation, Minister Tomasz Siemoniak described it in considerable detail on his X platform account. "Minister Faeser apologized for the incident involving the German police bringing 5 immigrants to Poland — in violation of regulations and procedures — and assured that lessons have been learned and such actions will not be repeated in the future," the Polish Interior Minister stated.

However, neither Minister Nancy Faeser nor the German Federal Interior Ministry posted a single word on their channels about the apology or what happened in Osinow Dolny. On X, Nancy Faeser wrote only that the talks with the Polish and Austrian ministers concerned the current situation at their shared national borders.

In the conversation, Minister Siemoniak reportedly reminded the Germans that the government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk opposes the EU Migration Pact and expects its flexible application with regard to Poland, as expressed in a letter co-signed with 14 other EU interior ministers. Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner also confirmed the talks on this initiative by 15 EU members concerning migration. The initiative seeks new avenues of cooperation with third countries to curb the migration problem within the European Union.

Austrian Interior Minister Karner reported in his account that German Interior Minister Faeser also wants to continue close cooperation on deportations to Afghanistan. "The ministers then met with Austrian police officers who are on duty during the European Championship match between Austria and Poland," the Austrian Interior Ministry stated in its communique of June 21.
