"Poland quietly accepted German pushbacks at the western border. Poland probably assumed these people would soon head to Germany anyway. Unfortunately, they underestimated the effectiveness of Germany's border tightening," says journalist Aleksandra Fedorska.

Several days ago, journalist and Germany expert Aleksandra Fedorska reported on social media that the German Federal Police had responded to her inquiry about immigrants pushed back from Germany to Poland.

It turns out that — as the journalist reports, citing the German Interior Ministry — "between January 1 and April 30, 2024, the Federal Police registered a total of 5,621 persons who illegally crossed the Polish-German border. Of those, 3,578 were sent back to Poland."

"Where is our Polish Interior Ministry? Where are the Polish media when they have work to do!"

Fedorska commented on the matter.

On Friday, the journalist published another post in which she stated that "the Polish government may have been counting on Germany's goodwill for its stance of rejecting the EU migration pact."

"In exchange, Poland quietly accepted German pushbacks at the western border. Poland probably assumed these people would soon head to Germany anyway. Unfortunately, they underestimated the effectiveness of Germany's border tightening. I regret that the Polish side understands so little about German politics and knows so little about Germany,"

In Fedorska's view, such actions could have been foreseen.
