As established by our journalist Aleksandra Fedorska, according to accounts from local residents near the German border, German authorities have for some time been using Poland's Border Guard to transport immigrants into Polish territory.
Attention, residents of the border area and Border Guard officers — there are reports of a new mechanism for expelling migrants to Poland being introduced. Poles have noticed and reported in recent weeks that Germany has recently been using our Border Guard, which travels to the German side, picks up migrants, and brings them to Poland.

Aleksandra Fedorska reported.
Last Saturday, a preliminary agreement between the CDU/CSU and SPD on launching coalition talks was announced. A common point for the potential governing coalition is the strengthening of border protection and the fight against illegal immigration.
The CDU/CSU and SPD have agreed that a return procedure will also apply at German borders in cases where asylum is sought,
Thorsten Frei, secretary of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, told the newspaper Bild. He added that this would take place "in agreement with our European neighbors."
The German politician stressed that halting illegal immigration is the top priority of foreign policy.
We do not want to provoke unnecessary conflicts in Europe and we want to find common solutions. However, it is also clear that the security of our country is our highest priority. Guaranteeing it is the state's most important duty.
Furthermore, according to reports by the newspaper Bild, the potentially future German chancellor Friedrich Merz reportedly announced at a party forum that he would discuss the issue with neighboring countries before taking office.
According to CDU Vice Chairman Jens Spahn, asylum seekers who cross the border illegally should be turned back, even against the will of neighboring countries.
In his view, the preliminary agreement between the potential coalition partners does not mention obtaining consent from other countries, but rather "agreement" with neighbors. According to the German politician, there are legal grounds for such measures.
The tightening of border controls and the return of migrants planned by Germany's future coalition partners may become a point of contention with the Polish government. The issue primarily concerns migrants who illegally enter Germany through Poland via the so-called Belarusian route. In recent weeks, their numbers have dropped significantly, partly due to the reinforcement of the Polish-Belarusian border and German checks at the border with Poland.
On May 14, 2024, finance ministers of EU member states gave final approval to the migration pact. Three countries voted against: Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary. The pact is intended to comprehensively regulate migration matters in the European Union, including issues related to assistance for countries under migration pressure.
The new regulations are also designed to distribute responsibility for managing migration across all member states. This is to be achieved through a mandatory solidarity mechanism that envisages the relocation of at least 30,000 people per year. It entails providing support to countries under migration pressure by the remaining member states. Alternatively, EU countries will be able to pay 20,000 euros for each person not accepted or participate in operations at the EU's external borders.
